As we all know, Father Ware, former Parish Priest of
Rutherglen and now retired, has been celebrating Mass at Howlong during Fr
Speekman's absence. On the last weekend, he 'did a double' and went to Walbundrie
on the Sunday. Father had driven past the Church of the Good Shepherd on his
way to Wagga many times but had never been inside.
There was a good turnout of twenty one Parishioners at Mass,
including eight children, which is pleasing to see. We generally have children
attending at all Walbundrie Masses, but the numbers fluctuate.
The children at Walbundrie are a delightful lot and lead the
Offertory procession at each Mass. Claire (aged three) usually leads and her
sisters, Yvette and Amelia follow. Last Sunday, we also had Tyler, Brodie and
Grace in the procession and Oscar joined in for the first time. His older
brother Angus is a bit shy and is working on just when he will participate.
After Mass, a warm Walbundrie welcome was extended to Father
Ware. An invitation to lunch was politely declined as Father had to return to
Corowa.
We would also
like to thank Father Chris Heffernan, who also stepped in for Mass on November
1.
