Kalumburu Mission Evening

Parishioners were treated to two evenings with Marg O'Donnell who has recently returned from Kalumburu Mission where she spent 6 months helping out in the mission. While there Marg met Fr Anscar McPhee who was parish priest there for 28 years.

On the first Tuesday we watched a DVD made by another volunteer David Forster. It showed the kind of life lived there by both missionaries and aborigines. The second Tuesday was devoted to the diary which Fr Anscar kept during his time in Kalumburu. After giving a background to his life in the mission we read some chapters from the diary and were deeply moved by the accounts of his experiences as a man and a priest.

We all agreed that we would like another evening or two to hear read some more of the fascinating details of Fr Anscar's life so beautifully narrated in his diary. Thanks, Marg, for your witness to the Faith.
